We aren't disagreeing at all. I'm quite aware that this sort of thing isn't optimal. In an ideal world, I'd be encountering them all at a reasonably slow-moving place that is good for socializing, have a fun first conversation (or discover that the first attempts at conversation weren't so fun and cut it off right there), and so on, but that's not always how my life goes.
