I asked him, "didn't your 13 yr marriage ever have any kind of stress in it?" He said it had, but that a marriage is different than a relationship like we have...because with a marriage, there are commitments to each other, to your kids (if you have them).......but in a relationship, there are no commitments. WHAT THE HELL?

Then he has issues with boundaries and acting appropriately. The problem with men who have no standards and fall in love with everybody is that you could be anybody. Instructing someone constantly will feel less like a relationship and more like babysitting.

as stupid as it sounds, there is some part of you that is seeing this "sugar and spice/future mother of my children/little angel" vision of her, and she's got an equally ridiculous "knight in shining armor" ideal of you. and god forbid that either of those ideals ever wanted to just get laid! she's in a category where no woman has ever been before in your head, and knowing that she's had some less-than-stellar or not-so-thought-out liasons "normalizes" her, and subconsciously that bothers you. same on her end.
